


Adult Learn-to-Swim
This free* swim program is for adults with limited or no prior swimming experience. Learn basic water safety and beginning swim skills in a fun, safe environment.

Adult Learn-to-Swim Program
Marin Aquatic Masters certified Adult Learn-to-Swim instructors and volunteers will be offering FREE Adult Learn-to-Swim Lessons (ALTS).
These lessons are for adults (over 18) who have limited to no swimming ability.
The classes are led by certified Adult Learn-to-Swim instructors and a team of experienced in-water volunteers.
Our instructors and volunteers are very experienced, patient, and understanding and our goal is to teach basic life-saving and swimming skills.
The program will cover:

relaxed breathing basics
-
front and back float, glide and kick
-
freestyle with breathing
-
deep water entry/exit
-
treading water
-
other swim strokes
Spots are filled in the order registration requests are received and approved. *There will be a $50 registration fee to hold your place for this very popular class which will fill up quickly.
Classes start on June 1, 2026 at 5:00 pm.
Following the Adult Learn-to-Swim classes, you will have the opportunity to join our masters team and build upon the skills you learn in this program. Joining our team will require a USMS membership. We will offer low cost beginning masters swim classes to all 2026 ALTS program graduates.
* Please note: This ALTS program is not a technique class for adults who can already swim across the pool but want to improve their skills. Please contact us for other opportunities to improve your swimming. Email: swim@marinquaticmasters.com

Location
Miwok Aquatic Center, Indian Valley College Pool,
1800 Ignacio Blvd, Novato, CA. The IVC campus is about 2.7 miles west of Highway 101 in Marin County. Take the Ignacio Blvd exit in Novato and head west. Go all the way to the end of Ignacio Blvd. Parking is only free in UPPER Lot #5 otherwise you must purchase a parking pass. Click HERE for more information on location.
